What is ROUGE?
Recall-Oriented Understudy for Gisting Evaluation. Measures overlap between generated text and reference text. ROUGE-1 counts unigram matches, ROUGE-2 counts bigram matches, ROUGE-L finds the longest common subsequence. Cheap to compute but only measures surface similarity -- two sentences with the same meaning but different words score poorly.
